For more than three decades Energy Northwest employees have brought holiday cheer to children of low income families — nearly 11,000 children since 1980 — through support of the Benton-Franklin Head Start
program. In 2013, that meant more than 800 gifts for 405 children. Each child received at least one toy and
one needed clothing item — the only gifts many of these children received at Christmas. Energy Northwest
employees also embody the spirit of the season by loading up the gifts and delivering them in person, dressed as Santa and his elves. Nationally, Head Start has provided comprehensive education, health, nutrition and parent involvement services to 25 million preschool-aged children. In Benton and Franklin counties, the service has more than doubled in the past two decades. Energy Northwest has made sure its help has kept pace as part of its goal to support its community.
