This is the first in a series of videos that will explain various stop motion tricks. The trick to make things in your animation look like they are flying is using transparent plastic/foil, glass, or plexiglass, which you slide in front of your background. You can then stick the object to it and move it a little for each frame and it will appear as if it was flying.
