In 1976, Ben Hobbs fell in love with early American furniture. Soon after, he left his job and security as a high school math teacher to pursue his dreams of furniture making. Nearly thirty years later Hobbs is the only furniture maker creating and pushing northeast North Carolina furniture. Hobbs is able to preserve the history of furniture making in the state by doing what he loves, as well as creating a product that he feels is larger than him. (Video + Editing by Lydia Thompson).
