Interview with Nuno Correia.
“Master and Margarita” is an audiovisual adaptation of Mikhail Bulgakov’s masterpiece, a satire based upon the premise of a visit by the Devil to the fervently atheistic Soviet Union.
In the words of Videojack duo (André Carrilho and Nuno Correia), the performance "brings together a graphical collage of photographic and drawn elements into interactive animations, influenced by Soviet-period imagery. The surreal, almost demential, universe of Bulgakov is captured graphically".
The book inspired Salman Rushdie's The Satanic Verses and the Rolling Stones' song Sympathy for the Devil.
