This is the old 2005 Sony F35 camera, which is the same sensor as the Panavision Genesis. It was used a lot in Hollywood and elsewhere but is mostly abandoned because its heavy and also its native ISO is only 450. Not that much fun when all the new toys started coming out - the Red One then the Alexa with its native ISO at 800 and then it went away mostly.
But what's interesting about the camera is that it is a CCD sensor. All modern cameras now have CMOS sensors. This guy can get colors - true representation of Red, Blues, and Greens on it. But what is resolution anyway if it compromises color. And out to the PIX 240 you can get that 4:4:4 12-bit magic.
Anyway - its a pretty interesting going into the past to older tech that used to be completely unaffordable - it feels like exploring ruins. I thank MacGregor and dvxuser.com for getting me to go down into this rabbit hole.
