Official music video for "Eye Lucifer" by Ironrat | Written and performed by Ironrat | Mixed by Tim Walker - Voltage Studios | Lighting and technical Callum Ford | Directed by Chris Boylan
After a chat with Tim Walker at Voltage Studios in Bradford I met with the Ironrat boys: Chris Flear - vocals, Wayne Hustler - guitar, Martin Wiseman - guitar, Stuart Hillman - bass and Lee Durham - drums. We discussed ideas for the video and the lads were up for adding some narrative to illustrate parts of the song so we planned and shot some extra green-screen footage as well as the performance. The shoot took place at voltage studios in Bradford and Callum Ford provided technical expertise, lighting arrangements and playback control. It was a gruelling 8 hour day in a dark damp cellar but we think it was worth the effort. There were some extra fire pickups which were filmed on my drive one dark evening and superimposed in post. A fun project.
The teccy stuff:
It was shot handheld on the Panasonic GH2 camera (except for the dolly shots) with the Sanity 5.1 hack which gave some really impressive high bit rate results and the lenses were the 1.7 Panasonic 20mm and Olympus Zuiko 1.8 50mm, I also used an old wide angle adapter with the 20mm for some close up shots. Editing was done in Premier with extra touches in After Effects and I've got to mention how much I like the dynamic link between these packages as it saved so much time when adjusting effects. The old TV in the cellar was motion tracked with a four corner pin to achieve the live video effect.
