Asian carp, Burmese pythons, zebra mussels, and other injurious animals cause billions of dollars of harm each year to the economy, environment, and human health. The US Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) prohibits importation and interstate transport of “injurious species” listed under the Lacey Act, but few species are listed in part due to the time-consuming and costly listing process.
This briefing will bring together a panel of regulatory, industry, and environmental experts to discuss ongoing and proposed strategies for improving and streamlining injurious species regulation through legislative, regulatory, and voluntary action.
