This short clip demonstrates a software that identifies and analyzes camera movement in classical films. The software is capable of separating motion due to the camera from motion due to the scene, and decomposes the former into three elements, horizontal, vertical, and forward/backward motion. A vector field representation of the camera motion is also shown. This software provides a tool that can be used for the detailed critical analysis of camera movement in cinema.
