In her work with the NewOptions program through the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, Dr. Mayo assists Innovate+Educate in building a skills ecosystem in New Mexico. Skills-based hiring, which is one pillar of the ecosystem, incorporates direct, objective measures of skill levels into the hiring process. While hiring has traditionally relied on degrees, resumes and experience as the best predictor of a candidate¹s potential to succeed on the job, the outcomes of this traditional approach are mixed.
