Gerald Smith and Tracy James were co-hosts of the music, news and commentary program, Slave Revolt Radio, which was broadcast live on the infamous pirate radio station, Free Radio Berkeley, 104.1fm.
Gerald Smith is a former Black Panther, a political commentator and DJ on Berkeley Liberation Radio, which began as Free Radio Berkeley. Gerald also ran as a candidate for Treasurer of California with the Peace and Freedom Party in 2006.
Frank first met Gerald when his crew videotaped a political conference for LUVeR, Frank’s internet station. Once he learned that Gerald did a show on Free Radio Berkeley, Frank asked if he could replay the show on LUVeR. Over the years Gerald hosted several different shows on LUVeR including Slave Revolt Radio, Radical Perspectives and a reggae music show, Grass Roots Revolution. He also was co-producer and co-host of several Shaman’s Den shows, which included a panel on the Oscar Grant killing and a show about the Richmond Tent City protest with organizers and community leaders.
