200cm x 80cm, MDF, Digital projection on Acrylic and Graphite
Schwarzlicht is an interactive piece that uses 2D projection mapping and sound reactivity in combination with painting and drawing. 2d mapping has been done very well before yet I feel there still is a lot of potential in this technique, especially in the combination of different materials and projection. Here I have used thick black acrylic and shiny black graphite on top. Graphite reflects light really well.
Projection arts always seem to involve dark rooms and pieces that aim to completely absorb the viewer - I created a piece that works in a bright room, that is in equal parts painting, physical object and window to the other. It is completely sound reactive and can be triggered by any kind of noise.
