The Oklahoma Baptist University women’s soccer team and coaches were treated to a welcome worthy of a World Cup team in Brazil on May 28. First Baptist Church Ceará-Mirim hosted the group, parading them through town atop open-air buses. The church is promoting OBU’s May 30 match against a local team, but also is partnering with the players to conduct evangelistic outreach during their week in Brazil. As anticipation rises for the FIFA World Cup™ June 12 – July 13 in Brazil, the OBU soccer players are drawing attention and opening doors for local churches to reach their communities, said IMB missionary Rick Thompson.
