Purpose: thesis project at The New School University's Documentary Media Studies grad program in New York City
A student filmmaker sets out to document veteran marathon runner and Long Beach native, Paul Fetscher, in his forty-second New York Marathon with the goal of capturing the fundamental essence of endurance running. Hurricane Sandy as well as life's unpredictability take this film on a new path, leading to an exposition on human perseverance.
The first version of The Lost Marathon was screened at Truth Be Told, the New School University's annual festival for graduates of their Doc Studies program. The film was then expanded upon and re-worked to the version shown here; finished August 2013, ending reworked May 2014 for festival submission.
I moved back to the Midwest in September 2013, after a 9-year stint in New York City. Currently I work for the University of Michigan in video production and freelance other places; a documentary I helped shoot and produce last year is nearly complete (2ndamendmentfilm.com).
