When I was young we would come to Michigan from time to time for vacation. I loved coming to Michigan in the summer. It was always a great time, the highlight of the year.
One day, while we were living in Buffalo, NY, my mom got a phone call from Grandma and Grandpa Lowrey; which was not unusual. However, when my mom handed me the phone I discovered something wonderful was going to happen... they wanted me to with them for a week to Michigan!!! I can't begin to tell you how happy I was to get that invitation.
That phone call gave me a glimpse of the very thing that I loved. I could see it, smell it, hear it. The best part was I was going there with Grandma and Grandpa (not mom and dad).
While my phone call nice and fun and exciting; the letter to the Galatians was not so much... It sounds like Paul is starting in mid-thought and just throws in the typical letter opening because it is a letter. Paul is fired up and wastes no time getting to the meat of the matter
At the very onset of the letter, Paul is giving the Galatians a “reminder” glimpse of the very thing that changed their lives – the Gospel. It seems the Gospel was at stake for those churches.
