Shot in Cinema 4K at 24P and scaled down to 1080p with 2.35 aspect ratio crop. This was a quick and dirty low light test to see how well the GH4 performs in low light. Some shots are briefly cropped to 100%.
I must say that I'm very impressed with this camera, even in low light. Bearing in mind that the GH4 is a micro-four thirds camera, I found the image to be remarkably clean at 200, 400, 800, even 1600 ISO. Of course it's quite noisy at 3200 and much more so at 6400. I found the optimum ISO setting to be 800 ISO.
For a cleaner viewing experience, please download the original 1080p file (the online streaming version is heavily compressed and doesn't do the GH4 justice).
This entire scene was lit only by two tiny candles from a small Colonial Candle jar:
Having shot low light scenes on the Canon C300 and 1DC, of course my low light results were much cleaner.
But let's not forget that this is a micro-four thirds sensor camera that shoots 4K for less than $2K!
Except for slow-motion footage, I now plan on shooting everything in 4K on the GH4. The reframing choices alone in 1080p justify this decision for me as well as the beautiful detail one gets from 4K resolution.
