This film was the Final Project for my Directing the Narrative class this past quarter at SCAD. It's the first class that I really felt like I was learning realistic values concerning filmmaking and film direction. I was probably the most engaged, busy, and prolific I have ever been since I started attending the college. And although this film really isn't at all festival worthy, nor does it represent the best of my current abilities; it proved that I could get something accomplished with what I was able to bring together within a small window of time, and it proved that I could complete all pre-requisite tasks as well: which there were many.
You Shall Be Haunted is an adaptation of a scene from the classic novel, A Christmas Carol; shot in the style of a Japanese anime. Or at least that was the initial intent. Whether or not I succeeded in pulling off that aesthetic is up to you. I also was forced to shoot this in the location that I did due to a time crunch and not very many options at the time. Furthermore, I perform both of the main roles, with my friend Will playing the Butler: who was a character I added in order to meet the requirement of having a three character dialogue sequence.
With all of that said, I can proudly say that the experience of making this film was amazing and very rewarding, even if the final product isn't the best it could be. Hope you enjoy it.
