ROADBLOCKS TO RELATIONSHIPS
All of us are involved in many relationships - Family, Friends, Work.
THE MORE RELATIONSHIPS WE HAVE THE GREATER THE POSSIBILITY FOR FRICTION AND CONFLICT.
● We could avoid all the “Risks of Relationship” by just staying home, but fear and avoidance is a “Roadblock to Relationships” you must surely avoid (It’s not only a dead end, it’s also lonely). In Genesis 2:18 God said, "IT IS NOT GOOD FOR THE MAN TO BE ALONE. I WILL MAKE A HELPER AS HIS COMPLEMENT." God created us as social beings, we need to be in relationships.
For all of you who are bravely traveling the roads of relationships, you have discovered that not all of them are good, many are strained or broken. Relationships have the potential to bring us our greatest joys, but they often inflict our greatest pain.
THINK OF THE BEST MOMENTS OF YOUR LIFE; Having fun with friends, a wedding or birthday celebration, holidays spent with family - ALL INCLUDE RELATIONSHIP and were shared with those you love and are loved by!
EVERY RELATIONSHIP IS AN INVESTMENT IN SOMEONE’S LIFE.
All these investments produce a return, for instance as we interact and care for our children they develop a sense of security and trust.
Consider how that security & trust could be shatter by infidelity or Divorce.
WE CAN EITHER BE ROADS OR ROADBLOCKS TO RELATIONSHIPS.
Which one we will be depends on what you do. Will we exhibit the LOVE OF GOD (Humility) or the LOVE OF SELF (Pride)
● Love & Humility will always establish and strengthens relationships
1 Corinthians 13:4 “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, it always perseveres.”
● Whereas Pride & Selfishness always destroys relationships…
1 Corruption 13:4 “The Proud are: impatient, the proud person is unkind. They’re jealous, and tend to brag, they are proud. The proud are rude, and think of themselves first, they are easily angered, and keep meticulous records of every wrong. Pride delights in evil and is sad when the truth exposes it. The proud person always protects itself, doesn’t trust, always is pessimistic, and always breaks things.
If you can traced back most of the strained or failed relationships eventually you will find, two people with hurt pride each of them defending themselves.
But the power of Love and humility can move that mountain of offence!
1 Peter 4:8 “Above all, maintain an intense love for each other, since love covers a multitude of sins.”
In every relationship we always have a choice; Obey God and respond with Love OR respond with pride and defend yourself.
I challenges you with Romans 12:18 “So far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men.”
CHOOSE TO LOVE! Your investment in their life can produce a bountiful return.
You may have people in your life who are difficult to get along with. CHOOSE TO LOVE! They may have never known love they may be suffering. “Hurt People… Hurt People.”
● Since you know you are loved by God you can be a redemptive force in their life. “Healed People… Heal People.”
Luke 6:31-35 “Treat others the same way you want them to treat you. “If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. “If you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. “If you lend to those from whom you expect to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners in order to receive back the same amount. “But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil men. “Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.
The investment may not be realized in this Life… But God will reward you!
As a Christian you are all called to be an agent of reconciliation.
2 Corinthians 5:17-21” Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”
THE WORLD NEEDS TO SEE THIS KIND OF LOVE AND WILL RESPOND TO THIS LOVE!
