P U L S E _ Dummy Book
Where does the border lie, where can it be reinforced, where can it be erased? PULSE features
a series where I distance myself from the familiar and embrace the unknown. This series is an
expression of curiosity, a visual diary that exposes the absurdity of the everyday through the experience
of my immediate reality. I am a city-born, and thus need the noise around me. Cruising along
ephemeral and effervescent moments, I use photography to understand the limits of my quest.
PULSE is the impulsive gallery of an improvised life where the experiential and the quotidian,
the imaginary and the obscene, come to characterize that which is visceral and in-between.
Immersing myself in photographic moments, I refrain from establishing a voyeuristic relation
of spectatorship. A lot of the decisions that I make in regards to duration and balance are about
trying to describe an organism that has its own pulse. Photography feels like a kind of performance that
never finds its resolution then, condemned to remain restless, mobile, volatile even.
A series of personal repository records encounters with striking individuals in cities such as
Istanbul, New York, Tokyo, Kirkenes, Oslo, Amsterdam, and Zanzibar, combines disjointed parts
of a puzzle.
