Melanie Garbo-Byrnes opened her shop in the Fall of 2001 and began Vintage Diversity in an 8' x 10' booth in an antique mall. Shortly thereafter, the mall was sold to developers who ultimately tore the building down to erect another high rise. Melanie had to do something quick. She located 500 square feet of space on Main Street in Wilton Manors near the historical "Antique Alley". Three months later she moved a few doors down to 1000 square feet where the idea for renting vintage clothing for costumes was presented by a customer who didn't want to keep polyester pants in the closet after his event.
