Hannah conducted research about the new global environmental standards that farmers and cooperatives must meet to receive the Fairtrade certification for their coffee. Her research included reading academic articles, certification agency monitoring reports, and email correspondence. She then spent considerable time analyzing the results and writing drafts for a manuscript. Hannah became a co-author for a book chapter about fair trade coffee and environmental sustainability in Latin America.
