The process of this video was a long one, particularly from the development stage. Originally, I was inspired by a piece done by Christine Streuli at the Biennae of Sydney. Her theme was different universes and dimensions, questioning reality. After much thought into what sort of piece I could do using this theme, I realized I had confused myself and became frustrated. This frustration and anxiety from not being able to get a proper concept led me to the idea of focusing on anxiety in regards to time. Knowing that I was using my soundpiece that related to the authority of time, I staged a scene that would tell the story of a person panicking to get an essay done. The anxiety comes through in the video through the use of various techniques. I used different transitions to show calmness, and then added quick cuts to oppose that feeling. I also used quick cuts that were under a quarter of a second long to capture the feeling of anxiety. Also, I used different opacities getting darker and darker as the piece goes on. This, along with rotations of the pictures really captured the sense of panic and anxiety that I was going for. These shots were timed with the photos as well which I think yielded a good result and something that I was pleased with.
