This is the first entry of a side project. It's a little bit like Greyscale Gorilla's 5 Second Project, but without the time constraint.: It's just about giving me the opportunity to work on animation/film/design ideas that I have or see in other people's project but haven't had the opportunity to experiment myself.
During my scouting of the internets, I lurk, grab and save any ideas, videos and images that I like and then I try to replicate, change and transform those ideas. I work on those whenever I have time or when I'm inspired. I don't know how many of those I will upload, I already have a few work in progress, some of them might be blatant and shameless ripoff of more talented artists, some of them people might just see the inspiration and some of them will hopefully be truly original. There is basically no boundaries to the project, just as long as it doesn't serve a bigger purpose [short films, music videos, commercials don't have their place here], just as long as it has some experimental and training value to me. In the end, those videos will just have to allow me to try something that I personally haven't done before, or try to improve a technique I've already tried before. But it doesn't have to be original or long, or short for that matter.
So for the first project I've finished, I tried to work on the isometric look with the lines and the cube and the infinite zoom. I've never done isometric work before and it's actually very cool.
TIP: If you want to achieve the isometric look using real 3D, you'll have to use a high value for the zoom parameter in After Effects. This will crush the perspectives.
