This is from the June 03, 2014 Q&A Webinar for Make The Cut! and Popup Card Studio
Make the Cut version 4.6.1 & Popup Card Studio 1.1.0 are used in this Webinar. Each question notes if MTC or PCS is being discussed.
You can find the thread on the MTC Forum with questions addressed in this Webinar here: forum.make-the-cut.com/discussion/38870/june-3rd-webinar-over-what-questions-or-topics-do-you-have#latest
00:00:00 Welcoming Remarks
00:00:35 MTC: Bryan demonstrates how to pixel trace an image of an embossing folder in order to “color” the embossed image with MTC and then “print” before doing the actual embossing with the folder and embossing machine. Also see original thread here: forum.make-the-cut.com/discussion/comment/425197#Comment_425197
00:16:32 MTC: Bryan answers whether this technique could be used with the embossing tool in the cutter to “emboss” the design rather than with the folder.
00:19:12 MTC: Bryan discusses “center cut” function request. There is presently no “center cut” function. He explains that it would not be in MTC, but in the “plug-ins.” He briefly explains how “center cut” works. He then explains that the “knife point” feature with some of the plug-ins would be a better option to use with scrap paper. (Note: not all cutter plug-ins presently have “knife point.”)
00:32:58 MTC: Bryan first reviews “stencils” in general and explains issues with “islands” and need for “bridges” when creating a stencil. He then looks at some stencil images provided in the thread and explains some of the issues and how to fix them.
00:41:46 MTC: Bryan continues with the stencils but moves on to more complicated designs like those shared on the thread. He shows how to look at the design and see if it is useable “as is” or if some cleanup work is needed to make it a useable.
00:57:00 MTC: Bryan reviews the “cut preview” tool
00:58:28 MTC: Bryan reviews that when using the MTC Thumbnail Viewer (note: this is a separate program & download), you must have your icon view set to Medium, Large or Extra-Large for the actual thumbnail to show properly (this is due to settings in Windows not MTC Thumbnail viewer)
01:00:17 MTC: Bryan is unaware of any tutorials created on using MTC on a tablet PC with a stylus (note: the only “tablet” MTC would work on is one that is running a full version of Windows. MTC will NOT run on a tablet running the “RT” version of Windows or on an Ipad.)
01:01:40 MTC: Bryan explains how to do a pixel trace of an image that has a “white background” so that you get the image but not the background.
01:04:20 Bryan notes if having problem getting to the Webinar with “Go To Meeting,” you need to go to “Go To Meetings” troubleshooting info.
01:06:37 MTC: cutter plug-ins – Bryan looks at the differences in the “cut” options in the plug-ins. These may include Knife Point, WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get), and Print and Cut. He discusses based on options available with the Zing plug-in. (Note: options available for your cutter may be different as all plug-ins are not identical. They are reliant upon the features of the cutter.)
01:12:48 MTC: Bryan shows how to take a word like “congratulations” and make each letter a different color (he explains you would only need to do this if you were going to do a “print” – otherwise you would just cut each letter from different colors separately.)
01:19:10 MTC: Bryan discusses how to bring Pyramage design files into MTC using pixel trace
01:28:40 MTC: Bryan discusses how to use SVG files with MTC (note: only MTC files can be “OPENED” with MTC all other file formats like SVG files must be “IMPORTED”)
