Brussels: the ‘capital of Europe’ and a place called ‘home’ – to varying degrees – for individuals and families from across Europe and beyond. Why do these expats choose to settle in Brussels and how do they establish themselves here? Why is it easier for some and more complicated for others? What links do expats have with their compatriots? And how do they interact with the ‘locals’ (what is a ‘local’ anyway?) Do they get the chance to really connect?
In the fourth program, Alessandra Esposito, an Italian volunteer working at 'Centrum West' meets Robbie Van Linden, group chief of AKABE's scout group.
Robbie meets up with Alessandra to watch a fanfare performance at Centrum West and Alessandra later joins Robbie and the kids in Ganshoren where they hunt for Easter eggs. The two volunteers talk about their commitment to their work with children.
