If you are being investigated for a crime, you might have some questions:
- What are my rights?
- Should I speak to the police?
- Do I need a criminal defense lawyer?
- How do I know if the police are no longer investigating me?
You should not speak to the police without an attorney present. During the investigation phase, the police will ask you questions or try to get you to say something that could be used out of context – even if they tell you you're not the target of the investigation. Make sure you have an attorney with you anytime law enforcement wants to speak.
