Challenge: After completing an extensive STREAM Research campaign to identify insight and unmet needs in learning environments, the team was tasked on ground breaking raw modular power system that would promote flexibility to reconfigure spaces and furniture while being primed and future for any alternative power standards that address the rapidly evolving digital landscape in education.
Results: Juice® features a unique, high-voltage magnetic Hermaphrodite (HERM) plug connector that provides superior safety while conveniently supplying daisy-chained power across a universal platform. The modular design also allows for rapid reconfiguration by offering a simple "pull and place" HERM connection for almost every furniture solution without finicky latches or locks.
With it's unmatched flexibility in orientation, the Juice® power system can be easily serviced or upgraded with its innovative hot-swappable compact 120V or 12W SLEDS. Each SLED can be embedded with the latest high voltage or low voltage power delivery standards, adaptable across applications.
Heavy-duty constructed housing parts featuring high impact polymers materials and stainless steel metal internal structures ensure Juice® will meet the daily challenges typically found in demanding learning environments and stand the test of time.
"The future is delivering integrated technology with furniture built around it," said Chris Petrick, president, Bretford Manufacturing. "This approach assists in maximizing the learning experience allowing students and teachers to collaborate more effectively at the intersection of physical and digital space. The extensive research undertaken by ATOM is paving the way for Bretford to maintain its leadership position in the education market with disruptive power solutions. Juice® is creating a new standard for the world to stay connected."
