This short film is about the process of "upping", not only in architecture but also in art making. It combines with three channels: still man made stairs, a naive way of drawing stairs and a process showing a man upping. Steps are significant components in both eastern and western architecture. A rich result always starts from a blank beginning. When we are upping, we want to get more and hold more. However, if we try to look back and down at what we have been through, we'll find it needs lots of foundations for us to go further and upper. That's how we human beings build our homes; and also how we build our own inner world. It's like an old Chinese saying: 'A journey of one thousand miles begins with one step'. That's also why I name this film "Upping".
