Today, the Black Hills Special Olympics, located in Rapid City SD, is a vibrant organization with about 150 young athletes participating in eight different sports all year round. Many volunteers are to be credited, but two men in particular came together and have been giving an incredible amount of time, money and energy to the club: Dr. Mark Harlow, an orthopedic surgeon who’s become its Sports Director, and Jack Lynass, the already charitable director of the local Black Hills Community Bank, who now serves as the group's president. A third man though, with quite a few people behind him, has become an unlikely angel to the young athletes: Rod Woodruff, the owner of the Buffalo Chip Campground and one of the organizers of the world famous Sturgis motorcycle rally.
