The video was shot on 2014-06-10 at Politecnico di Torino. It demonstrates our approach to Programming by Demonstration for industrial robots. This project is work in progress.
In contrast to typical online programming, where programming time exceeds cycle time by two orders of magnitude, the programming by demonstration allows to indicate a segment of the trajectory in only a few seconds. In this video the user programs the robot in 20 seconds. It is much less than the cycle time and time required to leave working area and start the robot. The time required to process the recorded data, generate and upload the new robot program is negligible.
Used equipment and software: Comau Smart NS-16 robotic arm, Optitrack V120:Trio motion capture system, Python OptiRX library (bitbucket.org/astanin/python-optirx).
