Sheree Spoltore has been serving as National Membership Director at NSAI for four years. Her duties include overseeing the membership service departments (Events, Membership, Workshops and Evaluations) and the most amazing staff in Nashville. During a recent interview, Sheree was asked to tell us some of the new things she has seen work for NSAI members and here is what she had to say:
As a creative industry, the music industry is always changing to create new fresh opportunities. I feel confident that the Nashville music industry and its leaders, such as NSAI Executive Director Bart Herbison, are uniquely qualified to lead the future earning potential of the publishing industry. Utilizing our NSAI services, members are experiencing more success and making more money with their music than ever before! For example, NSAI members are winning multiple worldwide song contests, securing film/TV placements, topping the lists for publishing deals in all major music markets, and that is just the beginning! Some of the ways our members are earning income include what is called “niche” marketing placements. Determining your market is key to successful placement of any product. For many years, songwriters have only considered one niche market: commercial radio. We encourage songwriters to think outside the box! Through our One-on-One Mentoring services, members have learned various methods to earning income such as performing and singing their songs at over-55 communities, writing personalized wedding and children’s songs. They attach their songs to causes dear to their hearts, like local and regional causes (firefighters, cancer events, etc.), corporate events, fairs, festivals, craft events, spiritual events . . . the list goes on and on. Honestly, if you stop and look around your world, you will see that music is selling more products now than ever before! The question is . . . WHERE CAN YOU PLACE YOUR SONG?
