If I had it to do all over again, this is what my wedding would have looked like! Oh my, what an absolutely amazing idea and a stunning location to boot! April and Karl decided on having a destination wedding, inviting an intimate number of family members and very close friends to witness their heart warming exchange of vows and celebrate in this new chapter of their lives. They chose the adorable Quintessa on Whidbey Island just across Seattle via a Ferry Ride through the Puget Sound. Well, as you can imagine I was in heaven!! It was all I could do to not have my camera filming every second of this marvelous trip...even the drive onto the Ferry. I know, big deal for the natives of Seattle, but for a girl living in the desert, with not even a subway to switch up modes of transportation, this was the coolest thing I had been on in a long time. Besides, since the couple was not from Seattle, I wanted to remind them of their excursions across Puget Sound and onto this beautiful Island. The Quintessa did not disappoint. Lush gardens abound every where you looked. The property had a cute little private cottage for the bride to get ready in and served as a romantic get a way from the main house for the couple. The main house was just as beautiful with stunning views of the water, floor to ceiling windows throughout and had enough bedrooms to comfortably sleep all of their out of town friends and family. The house was gorgeous lit up at night as well. There was not one possible bad place for a shot. Every angle, was glorious!! And of course this couple was beyond glorious! We had a blast with them and their families. Honestly, this couple treated us with such sweet hospitality, we felt right at home. And the best part for us is that they were so excited for us to be there filming their amazing day! It is always so awesome to work with couples who truly love the work we do and are open, accommodating and excited about our vision for their wedding film and what we are going to be doing with them to make it cinematic. We just ADORE them!! Karl is a total Ham and I wish I had more time in the film to add more of his Shenanigans. He certainly kept Scott and I entertained throughout the day. April, you have your hands full with that one ;) …but boy, does he love you and that is very apparent! All in all the day was perfect. A little bit of light rain in the morning and bright sun the rest of the day. To top it all off, this couple did what I had been longing for my couples to do for so long…they lit Chinese Lanterns. Ahhhhhh, finally! Of course, I guess lighting these puppies in the desert with our winds and high fire danger would be why New Mexico couples don’t do these. Yes, it all makes sense now. Anyways, what a perfect way to celebrate this special day. Notes to my two young daughters for their future marriages… 1.) have your wedding as a destination wedding to a lovely island 2.) surround yourselves by your closest family and friends and 3.) celebrate all the love that you can contain for each other. Yup, that's how I'd do it! Congratulations you two!!
