Double Barrel is a documentary film that follows Peruvian surf guide Harold Koechlin’s dream of protecting Peru’s world-class surf breaks and working with the local community to turn an oil-dominated north coast village into a truly sustainable surf town.
Angie Takanami is an Australian journalist with a passion for surf and travel. Harold Koechlin is a Peruvian surf guide and big wave chaser who toured Angie around Peru’s north coast on a recent press trip. As they surfed and travelled, Harold expressed his concern about the difficulties of creating sustainable surf tourism with the dominance of the oil industry and numerous environmental issues that strain the region.
Between waves, Harold shared his dream to turn the small surf town of Lobitos into a truly sustainable eco-surf village, protecting the waves as an infinite natural resource for the next generation, the kids, to enjoy. Inspired by his passion, the land, its people, and the quality of surf, Angie vowed to return to share Harold’s goal with the world, and document his incredible journey.
