I was setting up a scope and camera to hopefully video baby Wood Ducks jumping from this box, when two Black-bellied Whistling Ducks landed on top. They would never fit in this box, but the one we made especially for them is also occupied. Every morning and every evening for a couple of weeks they've landed on top of "their" big box and listened and peered in to see if the Wood Duck's eggs have hatched, but as of this morning she is still incubating. Black-bellied Whistling ducks are the most patient and thoughtful creatures I've ever observed, and are also the most clown-like with their big pink bills and feet.
