An alternate take on the original version of my short film concept, Remember, featuring sound design and mixing by the talented Joel Varjassy, and dedicated to my gramps, Bill Hayes. Our family lost Bill when I was just in grade three, and while its been 15 years since he passed, and my direct memories of him are few, those that I do have I hold close to my heart.
Initially this short film was simply a school project, however once this concept started growing for me I wanted to make it something much more than that. I chose to shoot the final shots of this piece at the very location at which we scattered Bill's ashes, as it's a place of true beauty and of high importance both to him and to our family. It holds incredibly high emotional value and it meant a lot to me to really make this something my whole family could enjoy.
As I have gone on editing this film, I've also made the decision to shoot an alternate version of the film that works outside the original guidelines of the school project, and utilizing my brother as the subject, dedicating it to both Bill and my father Brad as a gift on Father's Day 2014.
Special thanks to Chris Marius Jones for being the subject for this short film, and to Nigel Goodwin for creating such a fantastic musical piece. Joel Varjassy also took the time to create the sound design and mix it all without any original production audio involved.
