Dick Moore is the former Director of Senior Services of the Toronto Family Service and of the Older Adult Centre at St. Christopher House. He is also the former Co-coordinator of the Older LGBTT Program at the 519 Church Street Community Centre. Currently Dick is a member of the board of Care Watch, an organization advocating for supportive home care for frail senior citizens and Chair of the Senior Citizens Advisory Committee of the City of Port Colborne.
Chris Morrissey is the the co-founder of LEGIT: Canadian Immigration for Same-sex Partners; a former coordinator of the LGBT Generations Project and the Chair of the City of Vancouver’s Seniors Advisory Committee. Recently, Bridget, Chris’ partner was diagnosed with dementia and together, she and her partner have been actively speaking about the disease and the impact on their relationship.
Together, our presenters provided participants with tools and vocabulary for working with older LGBT people;
provided participants with knowledge of the history, situation, issues and concerns of older LGBT people
identified and exposed myths associated with older LGBT people and provided participants with tips for best practice both at an individual and organizational level.
