August 012 presents
By Bernard-Marie Koltès
Translated by Martin Crimp
Directed by Mathilde López
Prisoner on the run, misunderstood poet, child murderer, student, kidnapper or prophet? Sitting somewhere between detective thriller, philosophical tale, poetry anthology and American gangster movie, Koltès’ scandalous play appears to investigate the life of Roberto Zucco, the infamous 1980s Italian serial killer.
Join August 012 in this exploration of violence, tenderness, beauty and comedy, accompanied by live choral music and saturated electric guitar solos. Expect your moral compass to be unsettled as you are initiated into the mystery of Zucco.
Roberto Zucco is August 012’s second production after last year’s acclaimed Caligula (nominated for Best Production at the Theatre Critics of Wales Awards 2014). Directed by Mathilde López (Director of National Theatre Wales’ award winning Tonypandemonium).
Supported by Arts Council Wales, Chapter and NTW TEAM.
