IADT’s MA in Visual Arts Practices and the LAB present an in conversation event with Maeve Connolly and Berlin-based artist Albert Weis, currently in residence at IMMA. Weis’s practice involves the production of large-scale sculptural works, often using metal, plastic or neon, to engage with the architecture and urban space of post-war modernism. Following his presentation, he will be in conversation with Maeve Connolly about his current project, which relates specifically to the social and architectural history of the North Strand. This area was bombed by the German air force on May 31, 1941, and the discussion will explore his research into these events and subsequent processes of rebuilding.
