PROJECT DESCRIPTION Cayne’s "Femme Maisons" and "Homme Autos," a fusion of owners and possessions, symbolize a human tendency to blur one’s sense of self of with the things one owns, especially one’s choice of residence. The function of the home as a repository for objects, collected over the years and evocative of old people and places, reinforces this view of the house as a symbolic part of one’s own body and memory. The relationship between houses and their occupants, both essential in the human need for shelter and superficial in the style of decoration, fuels this work.
