Living in London, we found jaywalking very common. Between 1999-2010, 8,242 pedestrians died in Great Britain which included 1,279 children.
Melody Walks is an interactive project aiming to lead people crossing road properly. We changed the pattern of zebra cross into “piano cross” — when the traffic light is green, it will play a nice melody when people cross it, whereas when the traffic light is red, it will play a noisy cacophony to alarm people stop jaywalking. Because it is engaging, we want to use it as a tool to educate children on how to behave when crossing streets.
