"Politics Is Theatre" - 11 November 1975; Australia's Prime Minister Gough Whitlam is dismissed by our Governor-General. In this fascinating new and original one-man show "GOUGH", the man himself invites you into his office and unveils what was going on behind closed doors. pozible.com/gough
Melbourne actor Warwick Merry courageously takes on the role of our 21st Prime Minister Gough Whitlam in "GOUGH" inviting you into his office and revealing what was going on behind closed doors during one of the most turbulent and dangerous moments in Australian democracy. Part 'The Dismissal' miniseries, part 'The Truth Of The Matter' book-reading, part Oprah couch - join this polarising figure for a compelling and though-provoking show. The fourth wall of Gough's office is brought down, a personal and intimate portrait is carefully constructed on stage. "GOUGH" is not to be missed; this is important Australian political theatre. pozible.com/gough
Extensively researched, "GOUGH" is accurate to a considered level, remaining truthful to Prime Minister Whitlam's own writings and opinions. Written & Directed by James Cunningham (THE SHEDS, Melbourne Fringe 2013) especially for Melbourne Fringe 2014, and with a script input from an ABC Journalist, a veteran Australian TV Director, and a Victorian Parliamentary Speechwriter. The show has even garnered support from the Australian Fabian Society.
An ambitious amateur production, the team are running a crowd-funding campaign to help raise money and make "GOUGH" a success. Donate, or just help spread the word at: pozible.com/gough
