we are each given names by other people that come to represent who we are. Sometimes they are endearing nicknames; other times, they can be painful labels that we carry with us for the rest of our lives.
In his most personal "I am" statement, Jesus tells his disciples that he is the true shepherd who knows his sheep by name. But unlike the way we name each other, Jesus names us based on our true dignity and worth as those made in the image and likeness of our Creator.
I hope you'll join us this Sunday as we learn to receive the true names that Jesus gives us.
