Those painful, joyful, innocent moments – where have they gone? Times flies and takes with it feelings, images and words. Does anything remain at all? Today? Tomorrow? Rain explores that very peculiar time just before a downpour; when the atmosphere is highly charged, when we face ourselves or those around us, when the rain finally comes and when its rhythm permeates our thoughts and our desires; those moments full of melancholy, full of question marks, full of intimacy. They are both extremely personal and fundamentally universal moments.
The stories told stem from Bernard Baumgarten’s own life and from the lives of his five dancers, and the choreographer turns them into a narrative fit for the stage. The performers share these very personal and special episodes with their audience. They tell their story against a backdrop of rain and think back to their own past, questioning the notion of memory.
