Knowledge Generation was a project devised, delivered and documented by artist Yvonne Cullivan for Dublin City Council Bealtaine Festival Programme 2014. Members of the Pavee Point Traveller and Roma Centre Primary Health for Travellers Project and Maria Daly, joint-coordinator of the project, worked closely with the artist over three morning sessions in May, to share examples of knowledge generated outside of formal systems. In this video the women share their ability to make bread without the need for a recipe. This knowledge had been handed down through generations of Traveller women. They judge the bread-mix by look and by texture as they work. This white soda bread is crusty on the outside and soft and spongy on the inside when baked... eaten straight from the oven with country butter, it won't last very long!
