In 1989/1990 I created this system bootup launcher that uses speech synthesis.
I was inspired by Battlestar Galactica and I wanted to get close as possible to the sound of the robots in the movie (called cylons).
I also wanted some kind of future computer look and feel you saw in movies during that period, and I wanted the computer to 'speak to me' and presented information that was relevant.
It was made and running on a stock Commodore Amiga 500. Unfortunately this piece of software never got released.
The voice you hear is a true speech synthesizer (no samples used!). I influenced the phoneme scheme to correct pronunciation mistakes of the narrator.device.

Note:
The Amiga used in this video in an Amiga 1200. Video recorded in june 2014.
