About the Talk: As designers, we want to create buildings that inspire their inhabitants to see and interact with their surroundings. Our architecture is about the physical: site, context, materials used, the spaces between these materials and how it all connects. It is also about the experiential: the occupant’s movement from space to space, how they touch the building and how they can interact with moving parts to change their environment. In this journey that features built and conceptual work, we get a deep lesson in broad collaboration and how to blur the boundaries between design and construction.

About the Speaker: Kevin Kudo-King is a principal at Seattle-based Olson Kundig Architects where he has practiced since 1996. His work includes projects found throughout the United States and in Asia, including residences, institutional and commercial projects. He is active in all aspects of design, production and management, particularly projects involving a high level of collaboration between designers, artists and craftspeople. He serves on the board of Artist Trust, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to support individual Washington State artists working in all disciplines.
