Donnie Johnson is an advocate for the strict enforcement of industry and governmental regulations requiring flame resistant clothing. His commitment is a product of his own tragic experience. Donnie was critically injured and nearly died on two occasions from the burns he received in a flash explosion. He was not wearing the required flame resistant uniform. He left it in his truck because it was too hot.
Donnie’s Story chronicles his long and painful recovery, and the devastating impact on his wife and son. The objectives were to create an awareness of the danger and high risk existing in the electric, gas and oil industries; communicate the critical importance of wearing flame resistant clothing and protective gear at all times; and provide Donnie Johnson with a powerful tool that promotes safety and supports his advocacy for stricter FRC enforcement.
Donnie’s Story was awarded a Silver Telly in the Film & Video Category. Silver is the highest Award bestowed by the prestigious competition.
