Here is a short documentary I shot on Luka Hocevar and the philanthropic work he does at Vigor Ground Fitness and Performance in Renton, WA. I mentor students from the University of Washington on filming, directing and editing. I pitched this story to them as a positive look at how a small business uses charity work to grow.
When the shoot day came, we quickly realized this is so much more than "just another gym." Guest trainer and world renown Coach Martin Rooney delivered some inspirational speeches. Luka also not only encouraging his clients to push hard during the workout, but gave food for thought to his clients on life in general.
We also interview James Foster, Owner of Foster's Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, asking about how Luka has inspired him to do more charity work. James described their epic Christmas Toy Drive battle! This is a friendly competition to see who can donate more toys to foster children during the holidays. A competition with no losers in my book.
Finally we spoke with Thad Kittleson, foster parent and toy drive coordinator, to help us put into perspective the work that James and Luka are doing.
