Takoyaki Dreams is a 2.5D motion graphics work, which tells a loose nonlinear narrative in the form of a mock movie trailer from the grindhouse era of cinema. The film composites stock film “clutter” footage with crisp vector character animations to create a stylized vision of a noisy and degraded grindhouse film, as it presents a Japanese high school girl-demon fighting her way through a zombie apocalypse in an undisclosed city. Using a style over substance mentality, Takoyaki Dreams purposefully delivers cheap thrills as it entertains a broad audience.
