Journalist Paulien Bakker has covered Iraq as an independent journalist since 2008. Her book 'a romantic people' about the oil rich city of Kirkuk, was published in 2010. This short documentary shows her during her work but it also shows a much neglected side of Baghdad.
The project 'Hello Baghdad' is a selection of narrative stories from Iraqi's living in Baghdad. Paulien followed them in their lives during the last years (2011-2014). Photographer Marieke van der Velden made the photo series.
