For my Interactivity Studio. I was inspired by the concept of destroying something in an effort to create something. Graffiti, for example, nurtures such an ideology. Thus, by combining the concepts of aesthetic destruction and creation, my potential final project will involve a "fortune telling" machine...
Since, I believe, that most psychics base their predictions off cold readings and merely observing an individual's personality traits, I intend to use the popular (and relatively accurate) Myers-Briggs test to determine a person's "future" -- maybe he or she is introverted, so I'll tell them to socialize more in order to find happiness; perhaps the person is an ENFJ type, so I would tell them to pursue a career in teaching. Ultimately, I want to create either a website or other type of user-interface that utilizes the Myers-Briggs test to produce a personality reading -- all under the facade of fortune telling.
Since this experiment is all about "identity," I want to create a device that literally ruins a person's ID card in order to create an identity modifier/"fortune": using some kind of laser cutter/etcher, I want to permanently print out the results of the Myers-Briggs interface (along with a corresponding Major Arcana Tarot image) onto the user's driver's license or student ID. In essence, the individual is destroying his or her identity and creating a new, more aesthetic one.
Naturally, this little art project won't appeal to all audiences. It is my goal, however, to entreat those who have an appreciation for innovation and creativity (the artsy crowd) and those who would rather value "wisdom"/psychology over material objects.
I mean, what would you value more: knowledge or physical items? Creation or destruction?
So here's my scenario. Sorry, the tracking of the "printed tarot reading" is bad.
